And, Um, Oh Yeah, It’s A Lawyer’s Wet Dream

Rare glimpse of John Lamb’s personal life here, in which he explains how his lovely wife benefited from a service offered to immigrants still learning English.  Really brings the issue into focus.

I haven’t been too caught up in this struggle.  I don’t live in Davidson County anyway, but arguing this on its merits is just ridiculous.  There is no good reason to enact this new law.  Its a craven strategy by a term limited, not very bright council-person to stay relevant.  He intends to use this issue to propel him to higher office.  Period.

We can look forward to the good Sheriff doing something similar by using his cherished 287(g) program as proof of his commitment to making us all safer here in Nashville.  Never mind that it doesn’t, all he will have to do is connect the word immigrant to the word criminal, then to the word jail, and, finally, to the word deportation and voila! Instant support from the uninformed, the fearful, and the bigoted.

We will probably be unsuccessful stopping either of them.  Until the demographics change in this state (which is inevitable) and we are able to flex our voting muscles, we will have to suffer the exploits of ambitious men who feel the ends justify the means.

Vote NO today.
