Justice Delayed, Not Denied

Back in Dec 07, I wrote about Jamie Leigh Jones, a woman who was gang-raped while working for Haliburton in Iraq.  Her efforts to secure justice have been thwarted time after time, and since she was bound by an arbitration agreement, she was unable to sue over her ordeal.  Until today. This is good news, though its likely to be years before she ever sees a courtroom.  Go read her story, its horrifying.

I remember reading about this story at the time it first became public. What a travesty.

I don’t know squat about the law, but it seems that in this case that the idea of a contract protecting a wrong doer from their own responsibility is viewed, by at least two of three appellate judges, as an obscenity.

  2. Oh, I’m sure Halliburton will appeal this injustice – either that or Cheney will have her waterboarded.
